Our Classes

Classes and personal training will be run by Shihan Miyamoto. A typical daily class, both child and adult, will consist of 4 areas of focus. Each class begins with warmup stretches and a burst of cardio to loosen up the body. You will then progress to shadowboxing. Shadowboxing is a combat sport exercise in which a person throws punches at the air as though there is an opponent. The focus here is on practicing striking techniques through various punches and kicks and then combinations. The next section will move to either bag work or sparring. Through striking the punching bag you will be able to practice your techniques against a solid object. Sparring, on the other hand, will be practicing against a human opponent. The classes will finally end with a complete core workout. This workout will include pushups, holds, planks, situps, and squats. The final 2 – 3 minutes is an all out shadowbox to finish hard and strong.

Personal training will be a 1 on 1 session with Shihan Miyamoto. The sessions will be approximately 30 min. Shihan usually does 10 rounds 2 min each of sparring.

Miyamoto Dojo is an idea that Shihan Shin Miyamoto is growing to completion with the opening of our Dojo. At our Dojo, we want you to learn our specific martial art, Shidokan Karate.
